We are currently not accepting any new Mutual Exchanges at the moment due to COVID 19, this page will be regularly up dated in accordance with Government Guidelines & Council Risk Assessments.
Update: 8 July 2020: Mutual Exchanges will recommence as of 1st August 2020, on that date new applications will be accepted.
Cannock Chase Council takes part in a mutual exchange scheme wherein Council and Housing Association tenants can exchange properties.
Before the exchange can take place, both parties must apply to the Council (using a special application form available below) for written permission to move. It is very important that you do not move until you have the approval in writing and you have signed the tenancy agreement. Only secure tenants can apply for a mutual exchange.
With mutual exchange, you will be asked to accept the property on the condition it has been left in by the last tenant. The Council carry out routine repairs in accordance with the tenancy agreement, but it will be your responsibility to repair any damage caused by the previous tenant.
In considering applications, the Council is required by law to make a decision on whether to approve or refuse the exchange within 42 days of receiving the application.
